A connector product change notification should be reviewed for technical impact, affected stock and required approval actions. Receiving the notification is only the start. The buyer needs to know which exact parts change, when the changed product can appear and which existing evidence still applies.
TE includes product-change notifications among its product-information resources. That example shows the role of notifications; the actual notice and agreement for your supplier control the project. For a part selected from the USB-C family, review the exact orderable model rather than assuming a change affects every family member equally.

Translate the notice into a difference record
Capture the old and new drawing, material, tooling, manufacturing-process or site information supplied in the notice. Separate a documented difference from the supplier's conclusion about its impact.
List the affected order codes and internal item numbers. Check whether several internal assemblies use the same purchased connector under different descriptions. A notice reviewed by only one project can otherwise leave another affected product overlooked.
If the notice does not clearly define the difference, ask for that information before deciding what tests to repeat. A general statement of no functional impact is not a substitute for understanding the scope.
Map stock and timing
Record the stated implementation boundary and how changed product will be identified. Compare it with open orders, supplier stock, goods in transit and stock already received. Avoid inventing notification periods or approval rights not present in the actual agreement.
| Review field | Question to answer |
|---|---|
| Affected codes | Which purchased items and assemblies use them? |
| Change boundary | How are old and new product distinguished? |
| Open stock | Which locations or orders may contain each version? |
| Validation | What evidence must be reviewed or repeated? |
| Response | Who can approve, reject or request clarification? |
Keep unknown stock identity as an open issue until traceability resolves it. Physical similarity does not prove which process version produced a part.
Select requalification by impact
Compare the changed feature with the approved drawing and qualification configuration. Choose dimensional, assembly, electrical or environmental checks according to the actual affected requirements.
For a hypothetical USB-C port, a shell-attachment change might affect the PCB joining process even if the mating face remains unchanged. A material change could raise different questions. The review should explain why its selected evidence addresses the identified difference.
Record customer or design-owner approval requirements from the real project documents. Do not assume every notice requires the same formal submission package.

Close the implementation loop
Update internal drawings, approved-source records and inspection instructions where necessary. Record the first accepted changed batch and any restrictions on mixing stock.
Keep the notification, impact review, results and decision together. This produces a controlled transition that purchasing can follow without turning a notification date into an unsupported claim that all received product has already changed or that every application has been requalified.
Connect this review to CZT product information
Examples for applying this worksheet are listed below. Use the identifiers to request the current drawing and confirm the configuration required by your application.
| Catalog reference | Product information | Drawing record | Reference inquiry |
|---|---|---|---|
| QWY-1062-7 | 4001 Series 8-position modular socket, QWY-1062-7 | Listed PDF | Ask about this reference |
| QWY-1013-10 | 8P8C modular plug, QWY-1013-10 | Listed PDF | Ask about this reference |
A catalog drawing reference is a starting document, not a substitute for reviewing its revision, options and suitability for the complete assembly.

Discuss a drawing, sample or quotation
Share the part or family reference, current drawing revision, operating conditions and quantities. Include the specific checks described in this article so the inquiry identifies both the component and the evidence needed for your decision. Confirm sample availability and the proposed scope with the supplier.
