Laminated-busbar inductance is meaningful only when the current loop, measurement ports and frequency or switching condition are defined. A single inductance number without that boundary may include the fixture, terminals or shorting connections. Plan the measurement around the design question you need to answer, then separate the busbar contribution from the rest of the loop as far as the method permits.

Define the loop under review
Mark the forward and return paths on the assembly drawing. Identify the capacitor and power-device connection planes, and specify which joints are included. Different port choices can describe different loops within the same physical busbar.
Mersen's busbar design guide treats resistance, inductance and capacitance as electrical design characteristics. That establishes why the geometry matters, but it does not provide a verified inductance for an unrelated CZT construction.
Choose a method that matches the decision
An impedance measurement can characterize a defined fixture and frequency range. A switching test can reveal the behavior of a completed power loop under specified operating conditions. These results answer related but different questions; do not compare them as though every reported inductance were obtained from the same boundary.
Document the instrument, probes, fixtures and any calibration or compensation. If a shorting element closes the loop for a measurement, show its geometry. Treat its contribution as part of the uncertainty or remove it through a justified method rather than silently attributing everything to the busbar.
Prepare a measurement comparison table
| Comparison item | Requirement for a meaningful comparison |
|---|---|
| Electrical ports | Same connection planes and return path |
| Frequency or operating point | Same stated measurement condition |
| Fixture | Known geometry and compensation approach |
| Joint condition | Same hardware and assembly procedure |
| Simulation boundary | Equivalent included conductors and interfaces |
Keep the raw frequency response or switching waveforms. A spreadsheet containing only the selected minimum value cannot show resonances, noise or method limitations.

Reconcile measurement and simulation
When results differ, first check whether the model omitted fixture sections, joints or terminal geometry present in the experiment. Then review material inputs, manufacturing dimensions and instrument assumptions. Adjusting the model until one number matches is less useful than finding which physical boundary caused the difference.
CZT's busbar and energy-storage family includes an Energy Storage Laminated Busbar catalog reference. Request a construction-specific layer drawing and port definition before discussing an inductance target. The catalog label alone is not evidence of low-inductance performance.
Report whether the result represents one terminal pair or a shared network with several connected devices. A port-to-port measurement should not silently become a single inductance value assigned to every switching path in the converter.
Finish with a bounded result, such as the measured loop and conditions actually covered, plus uncertainty and unresolved contributions. That gives power-electronics designers a value they can use consistently instead of an attractive specification whose relationship to their circuit is unknown.
